Give us all your freedoms so we can protect them. If we have them then nobody can get them !

All forms of government strive to gain power over their people. There is no government in the history of mankind that could be used as proof to argue otherwise. Every government has grown and grown until the people realize they have no freedoms left and revolt or leave seeking freedom over their life. Why do people not recognize these problems coming sooner? Even with thousands of previous years of existence and proof of this terrible reality people slowly allow their freedoms to erode away again and again into the hands of their rulers. Part of the problem is that people see these freedoms not as lost but as being given to their rulers to hold them in order for them to provide safety and protection from their enemies. This overwhelming trust that societies give to their all too accepting deceitful governments is nothing more than a complete misunderstanding of personal freedom, rights and economics.

Another major contributing flaw is the belief that government must educate us or we will never learn anything and the poor will never be educated. One of the advantages of a free market is that it does not allow for power to be concentrated in the hands of a few in the form of a monopoly. With government controlling how we are educated through the legislation of monopolized education system that is structured in a way that they feel best meets the political agenda of those running for office. In other words the government continues to grow and the larger it becomes the slower the rest of us are able to move. This is not a coincidence. This is the purpose, to indoctrinate and “to train school children in good citizenship, patriotism and loyalty to the state and the nation as a means of protecting the public welfare.” (http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/opinions/documents/B192878.PDF) , making society easier to control. In history you can see that where people are free to choose how to become educated there is less government control and more personal freedom and prosperity.

People working in these government controlled environments are not recognized for solving a problem, they are recognized for making people fear that the problem is much larger than it is because solving problems in government would decrease or eliminate the powers held by those working for that particular monopoly. By growing their branch of government they are able to make the people more dependent upon the government because the people have come to fear what that sector of government promises to protect them from. When they are successful at scareing the bejesus out of people and regulating an industry into the ground the businesses are no doubt worse off than they were before and much less safe. The health care industry is a perfect example. The politicians then go on to brag to us how much they have done to make these branches of government powerful so they can protect us and save the poor when the situation has obviously gotten worse and some how the people are so indoctrinated it results in the meak crying for the government to do more. Thus creating a government run monopoly where they have all of the power to tell you how businesses must be run in order to protect us or it is punishable by law if you try to provide a better way. This takes away your power and freedom to choose and completely eliminates your chance of increasing your living standards because there is no longer competition between businesses there is zero innovation and advancement. One of my favorite qoutes by Frederic Bastiat is "Competition is merely the absence of oppression." The more of your own freedoms you have for yourself the less power those elected will have. The government can not rule with free and freely educated people and they know it.

Give me back my LIBERTY!

I feel as though I have governmentphobia. Everything I see and hear is automatically translated into how the government has excessive power. My dad owns property in Ohio and Michigan. Every year we cut firewood on our Michigan Property and bring it to the Ohio property to burn for heat during the winter. This year, about 20 minutes into our trip my dad said "shit I forgot my papers" referring to the the rights the government gave him to take firewood across borders from his own property to his own property!!! I wanted to puke when I heard him say that. It sounded to me as though the government had given my dad permission to go on their land to cut firewood and gave us a piece of paper stating so and we had to pay for it!

All day long I hear people talk about daily activities and every thing is politicized. The ones who understand Freedom and Liberty are a minority in this country. Usually the minorities of this country are rewarded! That is not the case for those of us who want the government out of our lives. For those of us who drive by a high school or municiple building and think "look at that giant failing government monopoly that has stolen my rights to be free and choose!". Or see a police officer during the day and think "Theirs the government making sure I don't screw up.". We hear on the news about all these problems in the world and it is the role of the USA to fix them! I know though that the real reason for those problems is the lack of freedom and the abundance of US government power trying to build an empire. Then I think about how much of the media is controlled to make us want to support empire building around the world in the name of helping the unfortunate. Reminding me of the qoute "The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule." – H.L. Mencken

Everyday problems are pointed out and we are told to trust the government and give them the power to fix them. We fail to see that they will take the power upon themselves to fix it regardless of what we say and we allow it! The most disheartening thought is how society wants these problems solved by the government and they refuse to understand that it is the government that created these problems in the first place. Why is it that we can not enforce the constitution and hold the politicians to the limits set forth with in it! I believe one of the major reasons is that it is the government and politicians who control the education system. And one result of this is that you don't learn the constitution in school. It is a very simple document that gives us the limits of government and tells the people your rights are unlimited just don't harm anyone else or their property. People don't understand this. You could spend an entire school year learning about how government power has grown so far outside of the grasp of the constitution and discuss how it is the right of the people to put the government back under its restraints. The power to do this is so important that the Founding Fathers stated it in the constitution. So let me ask again, why is the constitution not extensively taught throughout public education!? Because the ones in charge of setting the curriculum are the ones to loose.

Our freedoms and liberties were not granted to us by the government but by our creator be it God or nature! Any powers of the government have been granted by the people. Why have we given them the power to make us believe these natural rights are the reverse? And just because the powers are granted by the people to the government does not make it right! It is the constitution that limits what the government can do and it is the right of the people to make sure they are kept in check. So why does society give the power of warrantless searches and seizures, wiretapping, the monopoly of our currency and the power to give billions of dollars in subsidies to farmers to not farm to the government!? Because they know nothing of the reasoning for our Founding Fathers coming to this country nor what the Revolutionary war was fought for.

What are the unforeseen consequences of government provided healthcare?

Less incentive to be the best doctor in your field.

As a patient you do not want a “decent” doctor, you want the highest quality. Quality meaning the best possible doctor for what you are willing to pay. Understanding the quality you can afford in a government provided health care system compared to a competitive, completely government-free, insurance-free health care system is critical for intelligent decision making on this important issue.

The concept of a completely government-free health care system must be understood. This means no government regulations, tax incentives, and even government regulation of health insurance. No other environment creates a better incentive for doctors, hospitals and their staff to perform optimally. Hospitals will set their own standards and regulations for their employees, facilities and procedures which will be based on safety, cost efficiency and effective long lasting results. As hospitals compete for patients all of these things improve resulting in less waste created and safer procedures. This is the result of the demand of consumers to be provided and pay for the best service by competing hospitals.

Advancements in procedures and technology

Rapid advancements in procedures and technology to provide the fastest and safest visit would be the result of a bureaucracy free structure. The way in which a hospital operates along with the technology available will advance so rapidly that cures for common ailments and surgical procedures will become faster, safer and to top it all off the costs to consumers will continually decline. You can use any free-market based products or services to prove this phenomenon. An excellent example of rapid technology advancement can be seen all around us with one of the best examples being the computer industry. The product life cycle for a laptop is 6 months! That means if you bought a laptop today, in 6 months it would be obsolete. You would be able to buy a new laptop with many more options for less money than the one you just bought 6 months ago. That is the result of a consumer driven competitive, bureaucracy free business environment. Why would anyone want themselves or their loved ones to be taken care of in any other type of environment when sick or injured?

Because of this the dollar in this market would continually become stronger, meaning you would be able to buy more for your money every year! Better treatment for less, safer treatment for less, new treatments we would have never thought of for less! More people would be able to afford services provided by hospitals. Not only would services be more affordable but as pointed out earlier these services would be safer and faster.

Hospitals would be freer to pursue specialties depending on the market where they are based. Some would specialize in disease treatment while others specialize in spinal surgery or heart surgery or surgery on children much more so than they do now. Some hospitals may be funded completely by donations instead of taxes which means their would be very inexpensive or even free hospital care for certain people including illegal immigrants, poor children or whoever donors want to help. This would be much more feasible because the costs of running a hospital would be so much less because of the lack of bureaucracy. Their has never been a crisis in this country where people didn't give their time and money to help others in need. Donations to hospitals that are efficient and effective in helping those in need would have no problem raising money.

Quality of Government provided health care

In a government provided health care system all incentive to be the best doctor in your field is removed. The incentive now will be place on turning the profession of a doctor into a politician/government official. Because of the waste created in an inefficient, tax funded, bureaucracy laden system the costs will always rise, meaning less money for everyone not just the people who see a doctor or visit a hospistal. Because healthcare would be paid for by taxes or "free" people will go to the doctor for everything possible creating incredible waiting lines and a shortage of doctors to take care of all the people who are trying to milk a system that gives them everything at the expense of everyone. Because of these problems the bureaucracy will grow to try and deter the problems that the bureaucracy created in the first place and to top it all off, you are paying more and more every year for a service where the quality continually declines. A perfect example of this would be any government run monopoly system such as our education system which is paid for property owners through governement force.

Our best doctors will leave our country to go to markets where they are compensated for being the best at what they do. Only the rich and politicians will be able to go see these doctors because you know they won’t tolerate waiting in line for months to be treated by mediocre doctors. (They shouldn't be allowed to be in tat system anyways since they don’t pay taxes which will be the funding source for the system)

In a completely free market health care system what you would be able to afford would be safer, faster and of much higher quality than a health care system provided by the government and paid for by everyone!

To be continued…

Power in the wrong hands

Power, like energy can not disappear, it can only be transferred. The power of the individual to choose continues to be transferred from many individuals to a select few politicians to make decisions for us because they claim to know how we should live our lives better than we do. HOW ARROGANT!! With possibly the worst case being the department of education and socialized healthcare being our dooming fate.

The Power to Choose

In a truly free society each individual is born with a certain amount of power, or rights, and the most powerful right is the power to choose. As Frederick Bastiat stated in his timeless book The Law, "Life, liberty, and property do not exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it was the fact that life, liberty, and property existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place." So why can we not choose what schools we want our children to go to? The government has a monopoly over the education market in this country. Which I don't understand because it is illegal for businesses to have monopolies in the USA?
